The extremely aggravated epidemiological situation for the first time put at risk the planned third premiere night of "Elektra" by Richard Strauss, after the hugely successful two premiere performances. Despite
all the constant measures to protect the health of the ensembles and the
audience, with the sudden symptoms of some musicians from the huge orchestra, did this mean that there would be no performance?
With the fully energized soloists' line-up, stage set, tickets sold - it was unthinkable to tell the audience that they would not see the
expected performance, for which they had purchased tickets in advance.
And the inability to hear important solo passages and groups in Strauss's orchestration would compromise the quality of the musical performance of the entire score.
In order to avoid the cancellation of the performance, for the sake of
the artists and the audience, and mainly because of the responsibility
and care for the whole orchestra, the production was performed in the
original piano accompaniment.
Our loyal audience showed understanding for the situation caused by safety measures, but also by our duty to art, the audience and the
artists. In this way, everyone, both artists and audience, demonstrated an irreplaceable contribution to the realization of an unforgettable experience! The audience gave loud applause and gratitude to the
performers at the end of the unusual and magical opera evening.
The last premiere performance of ELEKTRA by Richard Strauss, announced for December 6 this year, will be performed with piano accompaniment conducted by Evan-Alexis Christ. At the grand piano: Yolanta Smolyanova.
