Born in 1979.
At the age of 4, he received his first piano lessons by Prof. Mara Balsamova and Olga Shivacheva.
At the age of 10, he started studying slide-trombone by Prof. Dimitar Momchilov.
In 1993, he enrolled the Lyubomir Pipkov Music School in Sofia with subject slide-trombone in the class of Stanislav Pochekanski.
In 1995, he received his first conducting lessons, inspired by his work with Maestro Mihail Angelov. Since this moment, his professional way has been connected entirely with the art of conducting.
Zhorzh Dimitrov graduated from the Pancho Vladigerov Academy of Music in Sofia with two subjects: opera and symphonic conducting in the classes of Prof. Ivan Marinov, Milen Nachev and Assoc. Prof. Atanas Varadinov in 2003, and choral conducting in 2005 in the class of Prof. Miroslav Popsavov.
In 2001 and 2006, he took part in the conducting master classes of Rossen Milanov and Uroš Lajovic.
Still as a student, in the period 2001-2003, he has been assistant conductor of Rossen Milanov in the New Symphony Orchestra.
His first subject led him to a traditional and responsible position – he has been conducting during almost 6 years (from 2003 to 2008) the Burgas Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra.
His experience and original views have a reflection over his work by leading him to the development of projects, in which he participates not only as conductor, but also with his arrangements and orchestrations.
Zhorzh Dimitrov has made recordings for the National Radio and the National Television.
In 2010, he has worked at the Veliko Tarnovo Music Theatre, where he conducted the spectacles “Das Land des Lächelns” (Lehár) with stage director Vera Petrova and “La belle Hélène” (Offenbach) with stage director Alexander Tekeliev. In the following seasons, he has been only guest-conductor at the theatre.
From 2012 to 2014, he has been permanent guest-conductor at the Stefan Makedonski Music Theatre in Sofia, where he produced “Ball im Savoy” by Paul Abraham and “Chicago” by Fred Ebb and John Kander and has been conducting holiday concerts.
Since the beginning of season 2014/2015, he has been part-time conductor of the Student Symphonic Orchestra of the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music, as well as conductor of the orchestras of the Lyubomir Pipkov Music School in Sofia.
In the spring of 2015 and 2016, he conducted the Sofia Philharmonic at the closing concerts of the Viva Piano Competition.
In May 2016, he made his first recording with the Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra for the Golden fund of the BNR, where he conducted the exceptionally rarely performed “Concert for brass, percussions and piano” by Lyubomir Pipkov. In the same period, he was engaged to assist Kristjan Järvi by preparing the Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra in the Theodosii Spassov’s international project “Balkan fever”.
His way at the Sofia Opera and Ballet started in 2011 with Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Aida” in Acad. Plamen Kartaloff’s production, where he assisted Alessandro Sangiorgi.
In season 2012/2013, he was invited to conduct Verdi’s “Rigoletto” in the spectacles in Sofia, as well as at the Stage of the Ages Summer Festival on the Tsarevets Citadel.
In season 2013/2014, he continued working in the spectacles of “Aida” by Verdi with Erich Wächter (conductor) and Hugo de Ana (stage director), the ballet production “Antigone” to the music by Mark Pekarsky (Russia) and “La Cenerentola” by Rossini with Grigor Palikarov (conductor) and Vera Petrova (stage director).
In season 2014/2015, at the invitation of Acad. Plamen Kartaloff, Zhorzh Dimitrov was conductor-producer of the first Bulgarian historical opera “Borislav” by Maestro Georgi Atanasov. With this opera he took part in the spectacles of Stage of the Ages Festival on the Tsarevets Citadel (2015) and after that he opened the new season of the Sofia Opera and Ballet on 01.11.2015 on the occasion of the Day of the Bulgarian Revival Leaders.
In season 2015/2016, he was invited to participate in the new production of “Eugene Onegin” by Tchaikovsky with stage director Vera Petrova. Main music figure in the rehearsal period was Maestra Larissa Gergieva, who was the main music manager of the production. Since April 2016, Zhorzh Dimitrov has been appointed as conductor at the Sofia Opera and Ballet.
