Biography
Olafur Sigurdarson’s 24/25 season highlights mark his return to Teatro alla Scala as Alberich Rheingold and Siegfried, return to Leipzig Opera as Baron Scarpia Tosca, to Narodni Divadlo as Macbeth Macbeth, debut at Grand Theatre de Liceu as Telramund Lohengrin as well as his annual return to the Bayreuth Festspiele as Alberich Götterdämmerung, Siegfried and Das Rheingold, Telramund Lohengrin.
Last season engagements included his debut as Captain Bastrode Peter Grimes Teatro alla Scala and The Royal Opera House as Biterolf Tannhauser, the Bayreuth Festival in The Ring Cycle as Alberich and Melot Tristan and Isolde, return to the Leipzig Opera as in the title role in Rigoletto and Scarpia Tosca, to Narodni Divadlo in title parts of Rigoletto, Macbeth and Der Fliegende Holländer and return to the Colorado Opera in the title role of Der Fliegende Holländer.
Other remarkable highlights of the past seasons include Telramund Lohengrin in Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Miller in Luisa Miller with Koln Opera, Holländer in Der fliegende Holländer in Karlsruhe Badisches Oper and Klingsor Parsifal with the Bergen National Orchestra, Rigoletto at the Gothenburg Opera, the title role of Macbeth with Narodni Divadlo, Captain Balstrode Peter Grimes with the Finnish National Opera, Miller Luisa Miller at the English National Opera, Falstaff Falstaff at Opera Omaha and Opera Colorado and in the main part in Rigoletto at the Minnesota Opera.

Formerly a principal artist at Saarländisches Staatstheater Saarbrücken, roles there include Balstrode Peter Grimes and the title roles of Falstaff, Rigoletto, Macbeth and Simon Boccanegra, Scarpia Tosca, Renato Un Ballo in Maschera, Jochanaan Salome (for which he received the Sponsors Prize), Don Carlo La Forza del Destino, Four Villains The Tales of Hoffmann, Méphistophélès La Damnation de Faust, Tonio I Pagliacci and General Groves Doctor Atomic. His performances in German repertoire include roles such as Klingsor Parsifal, Pizarro Fidelio and Barak Frau ohne Schatten.
