Grzegorz Sobczak

Biography

Grzegorz Sobczak was born in Słubice (Poland). He studied singing at the University of Music in Poznań and at the University of Music and Drama Rostock. As part of his studies, he appeared at the Poznań Opera, at the Rostock University of Music and Drama and at the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz as Papageno (The Magic Flute), Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and in the title role of Gianni Schicchi. During his studies he won the 3rd prize and the special prize at the Maritim Competition and is a scholarship winner of the International Festival of Young Opera Singers - Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg in 2015.

From 2015 to 2017 he was a member of the International Opera Elite Studio of the Theater Lübeck.

Since December 2017 he has been a member of the ensemble of the Volkstheater Rostock, where he has appeared in important baritone roles, including the Onegin in Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin, Marcello in Puccini's "La Boheme", Escamillo in Bizet's "Carmen", Dandini in Rossini's La Cenerentola, Belcore in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, Silvio in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci and many more.

With a role of Papageno he is going to make his debut at the Sofia Opera.
