Guilherme Gameiro Alves
Principal Dancer of the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb
Guilherme Gameiro Alves was born on 29th of October 1989 in Lisbon, Portugal.
He graduated in 2007 from the conservatoire in Lisbon and with a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation he studied for two years in Tanz Akademie Zurich directed by Oliver Matz.
In 2009 he joined the Finnish National Ballet where he danced Des grieux in Kenneth MacMillan’s Manon, Benno in Kenneth Greve’s Swan Lake, Gurn in August Bournonville’s La Sylphide, and many other ballets from Cranko, Forsythe, Naharin and more.
In 2011 he joined the Croatian National Theater as a Soloist, and in 2017 he was promoted Principal Dancer.
He danced many roles such as Prince Siegfried and Rothbart in Vladimir Malakhov’s Swan Lake, the Prince and Drosselmayer in Derek Deane’s The Nutcracker, Albrecht in José C. Martinez’s Giselle, Solor in Vasily Medvedev’s La Bayadere, Romeo and Tybalt in Patrice Bart’s Romeo and Juliet, Vronsky and Karenin in Leo Mujic’s Anna Karenina, Mefisto in Milko Sparamblek’s Johannes Faust Passion, Ignat Glembay in Leo Mujic’s Glembays and Bluebeard in Stasa Zurovac’s Bluebeard. Gameiro Alves has also danced repertoire from Marko Goecke, Uwe Scholtz, Ohad Naharin, José C. Martinez, Hugo Viera , Edward Clug , Ronald Savkovic, William Forsythe, Nacho Duato, Giorgio Madia, Masa Kolar, Claudio Bernardo, Valentina Turko, Hans Van Manen, Ashley Page, Angelin Preljocaj and others.
He’s also performed around the world in countries such as Russia, Japan, Italy, Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Portugal, Domenican Republic. Also performed in Vladimir Malakhov’s gala in Ukraine.
He received the Gold medal in the senior category of the International Ballet Competition Tanzolymp in Berlin. He also won the Oscar Harmos prize for his artistic achievement in the season 2013/14, 2018/19 and 2021/22 in the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb.
