Gabriela Georgieva is one of the leading sopranos on the contemporary music scene in Bulgaria. She graduated from the Pancho Vladigerov State Academy of Music in 1998 in the class of Prof. Rusko Ruskov. In the same year, she went on to specialize in opera singing at the Boris Christoff Bulgarian Academy of Arts and Culture in Rome. She honed her exceptional vocal mastery with two of the stars of the Bulgarian opera – the tenor Kaludi Kaludov and the world prima Ghena Dimitrova.
Gabriela Georgieva began her professional career in 2002 with her debut as Leonora from "Il Trovatore". Immediately after she appeared on the stage of the Sofia Opera in the role of Amelia from "Un Ballo in Maschera". She received invitations for two more parts on the same stage – Leonora from "Il Trovatore" and Maddalena from "Andrea Chénier".
In 2003, she made her first recordings for the Bulgarian National Radio with the conductor Velizar Genchev. For two years in a row, she has been giving concerts at the International Music Festival of the world-famous Czech tenor Peter Dvorsky. She sang at the Bolshoi Theatre at the Gala concert in the frames of the Days of Bulgarian Culture in Moscow, as well as in Belgium at the opening of "Europalia". She was invited to the First International Opera Festival in Cyprus as Aida from Verdi's opera of the same name.
In 2004, there was a series of successful performances of "Un Ballo in Maschera" in France and Spain. The following year she was engaged in a series of performances of "Il Trovatore" in Germany and two concert performances of "Aida" at the Palace of Music in Barcelona and the National Auditorium in Madrid. In the same year she added three new parts to her repertoire – that of Tosca, of Dido from "Dido and Aeneas" and of Abigaille from "Nabucco". She also recorded for the Bulgarian National Radio with conductor Georgi Dimitrov. She made her debut as Mona Lisa on the stage of the Opera in Rijeka, Croatia.
In 2006, after the premiere of the opera "Fate for Two" by Alexander Yosifov, in which she performed the role of Anastasia, she officially became part of the Sofia Opera Troupe. She has also been invited as a guest soloist at the Zagreb Opera in Croatia, where she has performed in Verdi's "Nabucco", "Il Trovatore" and "Un Ballo in Maschera", and Puccini's "Suor Angelica".
In 2007, she was a guest at the Summer Opera Festival in Split, Croatia, where she sang Abigaille from "Nabucco" and Elisabeth de Valois from "Don Carlos".
In 2009, she debuted on the opera stage in Graz, Austria, in one of her crown roles – Abigaille from "Nabucco", and received engagements at the Opera in Bern, Switzerland for a series of performances of the "Un Ballo in Maschera". This is also the year in which she made her remarkable debut in another of her very strong parts – Turandot, on the stage of the Sofia Opera. The following year she was in Bern again for the premiere of the new production of "Tosca" there.
In 2011, the Bulgarian soprano met one of the giants of Italian opera – the conductor maestro Nello Santi, with whom she sang Amelia from "Un Ballo in Maschera" on the stage of the Zurich Opera. Before that, she sang also Abigaille from "Nabucco" on the same stage. In the same year she made her debut in Rome at Terme di Caracalla, where Gabriela Georgieva impersonated Aida.
In 2012, she made her debut as Manon from Puccini's "Manon Lescaut" on the stage of the Opera in Rijeka, Croatia. The following year was her debut on the stage of the Vienna State Opera. She sang Amelia from "Un Ballo in Maschera" in a performance, in which her partner was the world-famous tenor Roberto Alagna.
In 2014, Gabriela Georgieva was at the Metropolitan for the production of "Macbeth" by Verdi, in which she was a cover of Anna Netrebko. A year later, she returned there as a cover in "Aida".
In 2015, сhe added the part of Odabella from "Attila" to her repertoire. She also recorded for the Bulgarian National Radio with the conductor Grigor Palikarov. Two years later, she sang for the first time on the stage of the Bellas Artes Theatre in Mexico City as a guest star in the production of the opera "Turandot" by Puccini.
In the last three seasons, Gabriela Georgieva has made three remarkable debuts on the stage of the Sofia Opera – in the production of "Norma" by the world-famous director Hugo de Ana (2016), in "The Power of Fate" (2017) by the Italian Pier Francesco Maestrini and in "Yana’s Nine Brothers" (2018) in the director's reading of Acad. Plamen Kartaloff. These three incarnations made Gabriela Georgieva a favorite of the audience not only because of her brilliant vocal technique, but also because of her exceptional ability to capture the hearts of the audience with her voice. Her talent for perfecting the musical details with precision and thus saturating every phrase she performs with emotions distinguishes Gabriela Georgieva as an artist who knows how to excite with her art.
