Born in Angera (VA), after undertaking other paths, Diego Cavazzin decides to follow his artistry applying himself intensively to the study of the singing and of the repertoire.
He won the first prize at the Orvieto’s “Spazio Musica” and Bad Schwalbach’s “Classical Opera” Competitions and starred in 2012, in his forties, on the lyrical scenes such as Pinkerton on a Madama Butterfly tour of Northern Europe. Following, in a few years, a number of debuts in Italy and abroad as a protagonist in the main titles of the great Italian repertoire: Rigoletto, Trovatore, Luisa Miller, Un ballo in maschera, La forza del destino, Aida, Messa da Requiem, Manon Lescaut, La bohème, Tosca, Turandot, Andrea Chénier, Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci and Norma.
A particular place deserves the role of Manrico in Verdi’s Il trovatore, debuted in Bergamo, sung in Pavia, Il Cairo and in Seoul with Fiorenza Cedolins; and with this role he was introduced by the big public last March at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome in the Fura dels Baus production under Jader Bignamini.
Among his recent and future engagements Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Terme di Caracalla in the Pier Luigi Pizzi production conducted by Donato Renzetti, Canio in I pagliacci at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome in the Pippo Delbono production conducted by Carlo Rizzi, Radames in Riccardo Muti’s Aida masterclass and Canio in I pagliacci in Cristina Muti’s production at Ravenna Festival, Il Trovatore in Graz and at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenaghen for the Season opening, again Canio in Rome, Cavalleria rusticana e Pagliacci in Piacenza, again Trovatore in Bologna and Genova, Tosca in Rome, Aida at the Terme di Caracalla and Boston, and Pagliacci in Cagliari. He will soon be at the Arena di Verona for Aida and Carmen, in Caracalla for Tosca, in Tokyo for Verdi Requiem and others.
