Today, at the Sofia Opera and Ballet, a press-conference was held on the upcoming premiere of the musical “Matilda”. The piece is inspired by Roald Dahl’s novel of the same name; script and score by Tim Minchin.
The press-conference attended the performance director Yuliya Krasteva, conductor Igor Bogdanov, Riolina Topalova: head of choreography, Elena Shopova: digital scenography, Dimitar Kostantsaliev – head of the “Talasamche” children’s vocal-theatrical formation, Nikol Veselinova and Marta Vateva who will perform the role of Matilda, Boris Makarov (Michael Wormwood) as well as artists Vesela Delcheva, Kalin Dushkov, Rada Toteva, Plamen Dimov-Grandzhan, Adelina Tomova, Yoanna-Mikaela Dimitrova, Nikolai Voinov.
Setting “Matilda” is a continuation of Plamen Kartaloff’s years-long tradition of attracting new and different audience to the Sofia Opera halls. It started in 2008 and since then thousands of children and their parents and friends have attended our children’s performances (initially) and then, those meant for an adult audience as well.
Besides established Sofia Opera artists, thirty-eight children from different Sofia schools will take part in the production of “Matilda”, including children from the National school of music which once again bridges the arts generational gap.
