Academician Plamen Kartaloff, the Sofia Opera and Ballet and the spectators of the musical “Маmma mia!” received a congratulatory letter from Yuri Franko, coproducer and licensor of the musical MAMMA MIA! for Central and Eastern Europe. Moved, Yuri Franko wrote:
Dear Maestro Kartaloff,
colleagues from the Sofia Opera and the team of "Мamma mia!"!
Dear spectators!
With great pleasure and pride, I am writing to you these words about your exceptional achievement in the unprecedented times of today.
I am sorry that I cannot be with you personally (for evident reasons), to celebrate this special occasion for our coproduction – the 60th performance of "Маmma mia!". What makes it even more special, are the unprecedented circumstances, under which you have managed to give life to the performances at Tsari Mali Grad.
Alas, only from far and on the Internet I can enjoy the beauty of the Bulgarian cities, fortresses and landscapes, among which so courageously and tirelessly you construct the impressive stages for your exceptional performances.
This way you inspire life to the performing arts, you give hope to the performers and fill with joy the hearts of the spectators. And in the same time, you turn these places into the largest international theatre on the Balkans and outside of them.
Not only I, but whole Europe admires your historical initiatives. We are watching at you with hope and take from you an example how to endure in a time of big crisis and how to walk towards the future!
My most sincere congratulations and respect to all of you, and special gratitude to everyone from the audience.
You are the people, who give meaning to everything.
Thank you!
Your friend,
Yuri Franko
