The opera singer said it was wonderful to sing in front of her own audience
The world-famous soprano Iordanka Derilova returns for two productions on the stage of the Sofia Opera.
"It's always a pleasure for a singer, wherever she is, to come back to her home stage and sing in front of her own audience, it's a wonderful feeling. I am very pleased and happy that Acad. Plamen Kartaloff invited me for the new treatment of the tetralogy of "Der Ring des Nibelungen" and the upcoming production of Belogradchik – "Madama Butterfly", said the opera singer in the studio "Bulgaria morning".
Derilova said that when the singer, after hard opera and hours of singing, receives a huge applause from the audience, he feels satisfied for what he has done.
This year marks her 30th year on stage. She admits that she has learned and experienced many things.
"My debut was in 1993 at the Burgas Opera in the role of Elisabeth in Verdi's opera "Don Carlo". So imperceptibly passed these 30 years that it was like yesterday," Derilova told Bulgaria ON AIR.”
She explained that when she played the role of Elisabeth, she was a student, and her performance was like a state exam. Derilova also recalled the moment she was hired by the Prague State Opera.
Of the role of Cio-Cio-San, which she will play in "Madama Butterfly" in Belogradchik, she said: "This role is completely different from the Wagner I passed, a completely different character that one has to turn 360 degrees."
