The tenor Reynaldo Ramirez-Droz will be Ernesto in “Don Pasquale” on 21 March and 13 April on the stage of the Sofia Opera.
Who is Reynaldo Ramirez-Droz?
The tenor was born in Venezuela. He studied at the Simon Bolivar Conservatoire in Caracas. He took part in many concerts in his country: “Serata Italiana”, “Grandes Canciones del Mundo”, “El Immigrante”. In 2015, he made his official debut during the Italian Culture Week in Caracas with a concert, organized by the Cultural Institute. At the invitation of the Italian Cultural Institute, he gave concerts in Valencia and participated in other events in honour of the 70th Anniversary of the Republic. In the same period, he took part in a tour in Columbia and Florida.
His dream to study with Raina Kabaivanska led him to her Master class at New Bulgarian University, where he was awarded a scholarship for education at the Vecchi-Tonelli Music Institute in Modena, Italy. In October 2018, he was among the lead participants at Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti in Modena in the concert dedicated to Luciano Pavarotti, and took part in many concerts in different cities of Italy. In 2019, he debuted in the opera “Betly” by Donizetti in Switzerland, performed in concert version also in Modena with the Bruno Bartoletti Orchestra. In September 2019, Reynaldo Ramirez-Droz was soloist at the Italian premiere of Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Requiem. In December 2020, he was participant in the online concert “The Tenors of Raina Kabaivanska”.
His repertoire includes: Tonio in “La Figlia del Reggimento”, Nemorino in “L’elisir d’amore” and Edgardo in “Lucia di Lammermoor” by Donizetti, Cavaradossi in “Tosca” by Puccini, Alfredo Germont in “La Traviata” by Verdi, Arnold in “William Tell” by Rossini, etc.
Defined by many people as one of the last great comic operas, “Don Pasquale” by Gaetano Donizetti represents the perfect farce and it is so popular today, as during its premiere in the middle of the 19. century.
