Only on 17 February at 19 h on the stage of the Sofia Opera guest is the only opera by Ludwig van Beethoven – Fidelio. The special version is interpreted by the director Hans-Joachim Frey, who is an outstanding expert on German opera.
"It's a fantastic opera about love, about freedom, about a man who is unjustly imprisoned and his wife is looking for a way to get to prison and save him. He's a prisoner for political reasons. At the core is the strong love between a man and a woman that can lead to salvation. My version is a much different format, it's an opera, a show, a semi-staged version, there's a concert aspect. The performance flows like a movie in the cinema," Hans-Joachim Frey said in the studio of "Bulgaria in the Morning".
The main roles are entrusted to performers from the Vienna Opera, and many good Bulgarian singers also take part. The director described the production to Bulgaria ON AIR as "an international cultural phenomenon".
It is not the first time he has been in Bulgaria. He knows very well the work of the director of the Sofia Opera – Maestro Plamen Kartaloff.
"Come and experience a full opera with a story of salvation through love", urged the director Hans-Joachim Frey.
