The Sofia Opera solemnly closes the opera and ballet arts festival in Stara Zagora

On the 4th of December, the audience in the Stara Zagora opera exaltedly applauded the artists who performed in “Das Rheingold”: the first opera of “Der Ring des Nibelungen” tetralogy, as well as Plamen Kartaloff’s production.

This isn’t Stara Zagora’s first encounter with the German master composer’s grand piece. A year ago, another part of “Der Ring” cycle was performed on the last night of the festival. “Die Walküre” earned the viewers’ admiration and they had nothing but praise for the opera. By the audience’s demand, the Sofia Opera toured again this year with one of Wagner’s works. Again, this year Evan-Alexis Christ conducted the performance. Students from the National school of music and stage arts “Hristina Morphova” were invited to take part in the performance in Stara Zagora, with conductor Krasimir Kashev and percussions mentor Mirena Mitreva.

Starring in “Das Rheingold”: Veselin Mihaylov (Wotan), Mariana Tsvetkova (Frika), Plamen Dimitrov (Alberich), Daniel Ostretsov (Loge), Krasimir Dinev (Mime). Also starring: Petar Buchkov, Stefan Vladimirov, Svetozar Rangelov, Hrisimir Damyanov, Silvana Pravcheva, Vesela Yaneva, Stanislava Momekova, Ina Petrova, Alexandrina Stoyanova-Andreeva.
