The Sofia Opera and Ballet will present "The Hermitt of Rila" – a musical poem about the life and work of the heavenly protector of Bulgaria. The opera spectacle will take place on 26, 27 and 28 July on the square in front of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
Directed by the Director of the Sofia Opera Acad. Plamen Kartaloff.
Father Kiril Popov from the St. Nedelya Church in the capital is the author of the music.
"The performances are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the consecration of the St. Alexander Nevsky Monument, he told BNR.
In 1937, a great poet and public figure of ours – Tihomir Pavlov, wrote a poem entitled "The Hermit of Rila". It was based on the life of John of Rila – the Wonderworker. I wished I had life and health to put it to music".
At previous performances of the spectacle, people have come out hopeful, Father Kirill told the "12+3" broadcast.
