On the 5th of October, at 7pm, at the Sofia Opera, a concert of the 2024 laureates of the international “Nikola Gyuselev” prize will be held.
This year, the prize will be awarded to Alexandrina Pendachanska (soprano), Biser Georgiev (bass), Daniela Dyakova (mezzosoprano).
The concert will be held in honor of Maestro Nikola Gyuselev, doctor Honoris Causa at BAN, Commendatore of Italy and bearer of the international “Golden Verdi” award
The Sofia Opera orchestra as well as lead singers will take part in the concert under the conductorship of Andrey Galanov
The program of the Concert of the Laurates includes orchestral fragments, arias and duets from operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Camille Saint-Saëns, Giacomo Puccini, Pietro Mascagni, Giuseppe Verdi, Vincenzo Bellini, Charles François Gounod, Francesco Cilea, Amilcare Ponchielli.
In his book, “The Voice Which Paints”, Nikola Gyuselev shares his thoughts: “There exists no clear boundary between the different aspects of art… the important thing is to recreate the character you’re portraying, to live the role. As for me, I owe much of my success to the “drawing” while building up characters on stage: I carefully watch my own body and hand movements, posture and voice (all components of acting) through the eyes of an artist. It’s as if I’m painting my own performance!”
The great Gyuselev confesses that true acting comes “from the mind and soul, by honestly and passionately studying the role…”
This is why the entire world of opera loves and remembers Nikola Gyuselev whose professional path is a great form of art, in and of itself.
