One of the fairy-tale plots in opera art – the beautiful opera "La Cenerentola" by the Italian composer Gioachino Rossini, comes to life on the stage of the Sofia Opera and Ballet on 5 February.
In "La Cenerentola" guest-performer is the mezzo-soprano Maria Radoeva, who in 2021 made her debut in the role of Elena from Rossini's opera "La donna del lago". Then the work was performed for the first time in Bulgaria, on the stage of the Sofia Opera and Ballet, in a production by academician Plamen Kartaloff, the press centre of the Sofia Opera reported.
In "La Cenerentola", the libretto is by Ferretti and it is borrowed from Charles Perrault's tale of the same name. The comic opera is always greeted with enthusiasm by various ages on the stage of our first opera house. "La Cenerentola" is considered one of the finest scores for voice and ensemble. Due to lack of time, the composer wrote the entire opera in three weeks. Rossini was 25 years old when he composed it, but he already had behind him operatic gems such as "Il barbiere di Siviglia", "Tancredi", and "L’ítaliana in Algeri".
The production is directed by Vera Petrova and conducted by Zhorzh Dimitrov. In the performance on the fifth of February take part: Angelina (La Cenerentola) – Maria Radoeva, Prince Ramiro – Hrisimir Damyanov, Dandini – Atanas Mladenov, Don Manifico – Nikolay Petrov, Alidoro – Stefan Vladimirov, Corinda – Ayla Dobreva, Tisbe – Yuliana Todorova.
To this day, this buffo opera based on the famous Cinderella tale wins the hearts with its perfect harmony of the musical genre painting. Vera Petrova, the director of "La Cenerentola", resolves the spectacle in a puppet style and the basis of the action is fantastic. At times it even turns into parody. Petrova is confident that she and the singers are charged with Rossini's "madness" and overcome the extreme situations through the means of the fantastic and with the possibilities that comedy gives them. "While I am working," the director points out, "I don't think about the message that the performers are sending to the audience with their acting. However, it imposes itself by its own: "Let's go on the way we can find ourselves on earth! One must courageously stand in front of others and say, as our "La Cenerentola" characters say, "This is me! "
The set design is entrusted to Boryana Angelova and costume designer is Hristiana Mihaylova-Zorbalieva.
On the stage of the Sofia Opera and Ballet the work is highly desirable.
