Sofia, 17.07.2024 15:00 (BТА)

The Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil will attend the first premiere performance of "The Hermit of Rila" in front of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Father Kiril Popov said today. He is the author of the music of the performance, which is based on a text by Tihomir Pavlov.

The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral will be the natural set for the musical poem "The Hermit of Rila", along with the sets produced at the cinema centre, in Boyana. This was said by Acad. Plamen Kartaloff on the occasion of the upcoming performances on 26, 27 and 28 July under the open sky. There will be 1200 seats in front of the stage.

Acad. Kartaloff explained that he very carefully studied all the sources that gave him inspiration for the interpretation, first of all – the cave of St. John of Rila at the Ruen Monastery and all the rock images situated there.

We need more faith, more love and more culture – for a healthier society, said the capital's mayor Vasil Terziev. We will continue to support this wonderful art so that it can be accessible to more and more people, he added.

As BTA reported, the team of "The Hermit of Rila" also includes Georgi Strezov – orchestration, conductors are Metropolitan Cyprian of Stara Zagora and Zhorzh Dimitrov, chorus master – Violeta Dimitrova, stage design – Nela Stoyanova. Consultant, compiler of the synopsis and other texts is Prof. Pavel Pavlov. The consultant is Bishop Polycarp of Belogradchik. The translation from Church Slavonic is by Prof. Dr. Ivan Zhelev.
