Dear friends,
On 19 September, from 11:00 to 12:00 h, the doors of the Sofia Opera and Ballet will be open for all music lovers and addicts of operatic and ballet art, in connection with the “European Heritage Days”.
Together with colleagues, will shall welcome all guests in the central foyer and we shall take you round the halls and the stage of our first opera theatre. Valentin Stamov will make a speech about the constructor of the Sofia Opera eng. arch. Lazar Parashkevanov and will perform on the 100-years old grand piano an original composition, dedicated to the donor of this unique instrument – one patriotic Bulgarian, who transported it from the USA, after repairing it for whole 20 years. He accomplished this noble deed in memory of his beloved wife, who gave guest-performance at the Sofia Opera in the beginning of the 1970s.
The event is organized by the French Institute in Bulgaria, the Ministry of Culture and Sofia Municipality / Capital Culture.
For the first time the “European Heritage Days” were organized in France in 1984, at the initiative of Jack Lang, Minister of Culture of that time.
