The libretto is by Giacopo Ferretti, based on the fairy-tale of the same name by Charles Perrault. The first performance of the opera was on 25 January 1817 at Teatro Valle in Rome. Rossini was 25 years old when he wrote "La Cenerentola", but he already had behind him a string of operatic gems such as "Il Barbiere di Siviglia", "Tancredi", "L’Italiana in Algeri" and others.

The opera "La Cenerentola" is considered one of the finest scores for voice and ensemble. The overture to "La Cenerentola" is frequently performed in concert programmes. Almost throughout the 19. century, its popularity was compared to that of "Il Barbiere di Siviglia".

Alexandrina Stoyanova-Andreeva will debut in the role of Angelina (Cinderella). Hrisimir Damyanov will be in the role of Prince Ramiro, Atanas Mladenov will perform Dandini, Nikolay Petrov will be Don Magnifico, Milena Gyurova – Clorinda, Blagovesta Mekki-Tsvetkova – Tisbe and Evgeniy Stanimirov will be in the role of Alidoro.
