A huge success, wild applause and excited viewers after the four performances of the “Anna Karenina” ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Katerina Petrova, Tsetso Ivanov and Emil Yordanov performed as Anna Karenina, count Vronsky and count Karenin, respectively, on the 6th and 9th of March. Anastasiya Popova debuted in the role of countess Lidia Ivanovna on the 6th of March; in both performances, we saw Boryana Petrova as duchess Ekaterina Scherbatskaya – Kitty.
On the 7th and 8th of March, Marta Petkova and Nikola Hadzhitanev took on the roles of the Karenin family members and Frederico Pinto debuted in the role of count Alexei Vronsky.
A couple more debuts marked the evening: Vyara Ivancheva as duchess Ekaterina Shcherbatskaya – Kitty; Vincenzo Caruana as knyaz Stepan Oblonsky – Stiva, and Maria Yordanova as countess Lidiya Ivanovna.
Christina Chochanova, Ami Inoue, Takafumi Tamagava, Pamela Pandova and the Sofia Opera lead dancers and corps de ballet performed under the conductorship of Andrei Galanov.
With the participation of Stoimen Peev (violin) and Violeta Radomirska (singer) /on the 6th and 9th of March/ and Tsvetana Bandalovska /on the 7th and 8th of March/; Noa Giofkos and Matei Stefanov performed the role of the young Seryozha Karenin.
Choreography and directorship by the world-renowned artist Leo Muic.
