The rich playbill of the Sofia Opera and Ballet expects its audience on 23 October at the spectacle of one of Vincenzo Bellini’s most moving operas – "Norma". The music, performed with exceptional melodicity, saturated with lyric poetry and deep spirit, is the brightest expression of the Italian style Bel canto – the beautiful singing.

The overture, constructed on themes from the opera, is preferred also on the concert podium. The whole work of art is filled with arias, duets and ensembles, real pearls in the history of music. Climax in the entire opera, it could be said in Bellini’s work too, is the famous aria "Casta Diva", Norma’s prayer – "Pure Goddess". This aria, steeped in exquisiteness and poetry, expression of deep human emotions, is a real height in the Bel canto style.

In the spectacle we shall enjoy the performance of the first artists of the Sofia Opera Radostina Nikolaeva, Martin Iliev, Olga Mihaylova-Dinova, Petar Buchkov, Ivanka Ninova, Krasimir Dinev and others. Conductor is Zhorzh Dimitrov.
