The national troupe presented fragments from the ballets "The Sleeping Beauty" by Tchaikovsky, "Don Quixote" by Minkus, "Giselle" and "Le corsaire" by Adolphe Adam and "Carmen Suite" by Bizet-Shchedrin in a large gala concert in the open air at the Unification Square.
Among the performers were the stars of the Bulgarian ballet Marta Petkova, Katerina Petrova, Nikola Hadjitanev, Tsetso Ivanov, Frederico Pinto, as well as the wonderful soloists of the company Simeon Atanasov, Francesco Congiusti, Georgi Banchev, Elena Petrova, Maria Yordanova, Vyara Ivancheva, Kristina Chochanova, Debora Tosheva, Anastasia Popova and Pamela Pandova.
The festival was opened on 14 June by the world opera star Angela Gheorghiu under the baton of David Jimenez Carreras. The participation of the Sofia Opera Ballet, one of the best companies in Europe, was highly appreciated.
