“To me, debuting on the Sofia Opera and Ballet stage as Violeta Valeri is a multilayered experience: first of all, because my huge sentimental connection with this legendary role which my mother Darina Takova also performed and second of all because Maestro Plamen Kartaloff’s historic production, even though brought up to date with modern times in terms of certain details and visuals, is the same one he created for my mother and which the Sofia audience has loved for decades.
“I’m excited because I feel at home in this temple of music: it’s because I’ve spent my childhood in this building, because of the memories of every single performance, repetition and costume tryouts, because of the warm welcome by the entire ensemble, from the lead singers to the choir and orchestra, the ladies working at the wardrobe and the stylists. All these people have known me ever since I was a child and greeted me with love and warmth. I feel inspired, thrilled and supported and I can’t wait to share my excitement with the audience.”
