“Cinderella, or the triumph of kindness” by Italian composer Gioachino Rossini will come to life on the stage of the Sofia Opera and Ballet, on the 16th of October. Mezzosoprano Maria Radoeva will portray Angelina.
“Cinderella” is a captivating fairy tale of a poor girl who becomes a princess. Rossini composes the entire score in just three weeks. At the time, he was only twenty-five years old but had already achieved great fame thanks to his masterpiece, “The Barber of Seville“.
Vera Petrova’s masterful directorship makes the audience smile and lifts the mood even during the scenes where we’re supposed to feel a bit sad, according to the libretto. The scenography is unusual: the characters perform inside huge colorful eggs which serve as rooms, a chariot and a flower garden.
Hrisimir Damyanov will take on the role of Prince Ramiro, Dandini – Atanas Mladenov, Alidoro – Stefan Vladimiriov, Don Magnifico – Nikolay Petrov, Tisbe – Blagovesta Mekki-Tsvetkova, Clorinda – Maria Pavlova.
