The phantasy opera “The Magic Forest” is the newest title in the playbill for children of the Sofia Opera. In the performance sounds music by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Balakirev, Schubert, Wagner, Bizet, Humperdinck, Tchaikovsky and Johann Strauss Jr.

“I am using the most popular and melodic parts from opera arias, said before the camera of BTA the stage director Yulia Krasteva. “We tell the stories of Gabarko, the Wheat Cake, about the Witch from “Haensel and Gretel”, who, however, is transformed. The idea is that in the forest you can meet good, as well as evil. The Wizard from “Il barbiere di Siviglia” appears too – Figaro, who presents a part of his cavatina”.

In the spectacle appears the youngest artistic staff of the opera, with the support of Mariana Tsvetkova and Diana Vasileva, who are from the so called big echelon, says Krasteva. She reminds that the programme for children in the opera started in 2008, at the concept of the Director Plamen Kartaloff.

For the sets is used a part of the set design of “Parsifal”. In the forest, the Little Mushroom is sad – she wants to come to know the world, to play, to find friends, but she is motionless. And here it is that the Wizard will help her to move, but he will give her a valuable advice too: “In the forest there are good, as well as bad things, and she should get to know them, but also to be careful.”

Conductor is Stefan Nedyalkov. The characters and the performers are: Princess Little Mushroom Lea – Anna Vutova-Stoycheva, the Wizard Figaro – Georgi Dzhanov, the Witch – Rada Toteva, the Fairy of Spring – Mariana Zvetkova, the Fairy of Love – Diana Vasileva, the Artist – Nikola Popov, Prince Little Mushroom Gabcho – Kalin Dushkov, the Vixen Lisana – Rada Toteva, Persian Prince – Rosen Nenchev, Flowers – Lora Ilieva, Vihra Smilkova, Aleksandra Nosikova, Elena Indzheva and Kristina Dimitrova.
