On the 1st of November, National Revival Leader Day, the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers presented the traditional “Crystal Lyre” awards, given for peak achievements in Bulgarian music and dance.
Gabriela Georgieva: lead singer at the Sofia Opera and Ballet won the award in the “Opera art” category; she was nominated for her performances during the last 23/24 season in the premieres of the operas “Medea” by Luigi Cherubini and “Lohengrin” by Richard Wagner. Gabriela Georgieva impressively portrayed Medea and Ortrud.
In the category “Production team”, the hosts awarded the team who worked on the premiere of the opera “Lohengrin” by Richard Wagner, performed at the Sofia Opera and Ballet on the 13th and 23rd of June.
The production team consisted of: conductors Konstantin Trinks and Evan Alexis-Christ; director Plamen Kartaloff; assistant director Yuliya Krasteva; stylistic preparations: Kammersängerin Anna Tomova-Sintova; scenographer Hans Kudlich who worked together with Sven Jonke and Gudrun Geiblinger; assistant-scenographers Nela Stoyanov and Kristiyan Stoyanov; costumes by Mario Dice; choir conductor Violeta Dimitrova; BNR male choir conductor Lyubomira Alexandrova; artistic lighting by Zack Blaine; laser effects by Michael Solinger; assistant-directors Vyara Karabelyova, Stefka Georgieva, Teodor Georgiev; score preparation by Jolanta Smolyanova; concert-masters Evgeni Nikolov and Maria Evstatieva; co-tutors Agnes Dankova, Stoyan Martinov, Svetlana Ananievska, Monika Gvozdeva.
The Sofia Opera choir was nominated in the “Choir art” category for its wonderful performance in the premiere performances of “Lohengrin” by Wagner.
The “Crystal Lyre” awards were established in 1997, with SBMTD and “Kantus Firmus” AD as co-organizers. There are a total of nineteen different award categories.
