On 4 June, with the opera “Don Carlo” by Giuseppe Verdi, the Sofia Opera celebrates 30 years of artistic activity of Yulian Konstantinov in the role of Filippo II.

In the role of ÉLISABETH DE VALOIS you will see the opera prima Tsvetelina Vasileva, the Czech baritone Jiří Brückler as RODRIGO, MARQUIS OF POSA and Violeta Radomirska as EBOLI.

“Don Carlo” is one of the composer's greatest achievements, a strong musical drama with deep dramatism, condensed feelings and vivid contrasts.

The tragic experiences of the characters – both positive and negative – are felt in the theme of suffering, which has a unifying meaning in the musical score. The individual arias, duets and ensembles blend into each other with amazing mastery.
