The premiere of “Falstaff” by Giuseppe Verdi will soon take place at the Sofia Opera. In the “Radiocafe” show, baritone Kiril Manolov shared details on the upcoming performance.
“Falstaff” is a truly special opera to me because this was the role which led to my big break on the true international stage. After this role, I started getting invited to many famous theaters, to perform in many tough showings. This gave me the opportunity to meet famous singers whom I wouldn’t have been able to meet on my path, had I performed in different titles”, he shared.
“Falstaff” is specific: both as a role and as far as acting goes; it is a very hard role to perform from a purely vocal point of view. However, through the power and madness of youth, I managed to perform not too bad and I conquered this role. A month ago, I saw a recording of my debut in this role at the Zagreb opera. This was in 2009 when I was thirty-three years old. Today, with my current knowledge and experience, I can judge that my performance back then wasn’t bad at all”, the baritone commented.
Kiril Manolov has performed this role under the conductorship of Maestro Mutti and has had the opportunity to meet famous directors and singers.
The premiere of “Falstaff” will take place on the 27th of February at the Sofia Opera, starring Kiril Manolov and a myriad of artists about whom he excitedly shares that they are close friends of his and that they have not only partnered on different stages but that they have also walked through life together.
“Us having the opportunity to come together for “Falstaff” is a very nice thing because this is an opera produced by people who like and love each other”, Manolov assures.
