The Sofia Opera Ballet performs “The Nutcracker” by Tchaikovsky in Salerno, Italy

Immediately after the grand tour in Poland, our ballet troupe sets off for Italy. “Zorba the Greek”, the wonderful ballet by Mikis Theodorakis, under Lorca Massine’s choreography, was performed in ten different cities in Poland while hundreds of exalted viewers praised every performance with continuous applause.

From the 4th to the 8th of December, “The Nutcracker” performances will bring the Christmas spirit to the “Giuseppe Verdi” theater in Salerno.

“Follow Mary on her magical adventure among snowflakes and dancing dolls, a journey of dreams and magic, under the accompaniment of Tchaikovsky’s timeless score”, the theater advertises, with two additional performances being added due to great interest.

Starring ballet stars Marta Petkova and Nikola Hadzhitanev, Boryana Petrova and Emil Yordanov, Rumen Bonev, Frederico Pinto, lead dancers and corps de ballet.

This is our ballet troupe’s third visit in Salerno after “Swan Lake” by Tchaikovsky and “Giselle” by Adam.

From the 19th of December to the 5th of January, eleven “The Nutcracker” performances are planned at the Sofia Opera, with tickets already completely sold out.

On the 12th of January, world-famous stars Maria Kochetkova and Daniil Simkin will perform in “Giselle” as Giselle and Albert respectively. The two ballet dancers participated in the International ballet contest in Varna and Maria earned the second place for youths in 2002 while Daniil won first prize in 2004. Now, this will be their second visit to Bulgaria! This contest set the beginning of their international career! After this, both of them went on to perform exceptional roles. They perform at the biggest and most elite theaters and have earned worldwide recognition. Now, we will have the pleasure of watching them on our own beautiful stage! Also starring, our beloved artists: premiere-lead dancer Nikola Hadzhitanev, lead dancers Maria Yordanova, Vyara Ivancheva, Simeon Atanasov, Elena Petrova, Pamela Pandova and others!

This performance is dedicated to Boris Spasov’s 70th anniversary who will take on the conductor’s mantle.
