The third edition of the International Festival "Sounds of Oradea" will take place between 14 and 16 June and will delight the audience with three exceptional show programmes in popular cultural spaces in the city. The opening and closing are at the "Saedinenie Square", and one of the concerts is at the State Philharmonic Hall.
The Sofia Opera Ballet will close the festival on 16 June with a spectacle full of grace and emotion. On the stage of the square will be presented excerpts from "The Sleeping Beauty" by Tchaikovsky, "Don Quixote" by Minkus, "Giselle" and "Le corsaire" by Adam, "Carmen-Suite" by Bizet-Shchedrin. Among the performers are the stars of the national ballet Marta Petkova, Katerina Petrova, Nikola Hadjitanev, Tsetso Ivanov, Frederico Pinto.
The world-famous opera singer Angela Gheorghiou will open the festival on 14 June. She will be accompanied by the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Oradea conducted by David Jiménez Carreras. Her partner will be the tenor Teodor Ilincai.
On the second evening, 15 June, The Prague Cello Quartet will perform, a remarkable ensemble of four talented musicians who have graduated from prestigious music academies. The concert on 15 June is at the State Philharmonic Hall and features interpretations of classical works as well as jazz, rock, pop and music from films.
The artistic director of this festival is the Catalan conductor David Jiménez Carreras, nephew of the famous tenor José Carreras.
