The ballet “Anna Karenina” returns to the Sofia Opera stage

From the 6th to the 9th of March, ballet fans will be able to see four performances of the “Anna Karenina” ballet by Pjotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. A series of debuts will shed new light on some of the main roles.

Anna Karenina – Katerina Petrova; count Vronsky and count Karenin: Tsetso Ivanov and Emil Yordanov, on the 6th and 9th of March. In the first performance, Anastasiya Popova will debut in the role of countess Lidiya Ivanovna.

On the 7th and 8th of March, Marta Petkova and Nikola Hadzhitanev will recreate the roles of the Karenin family, with Frederico Pinto debuting in the role of count Alexei Vronsky. More debuts in the 7th of March performance: Vyara Ivancheva as duchess Ekaterina Shcherbatskaya – Kitty; Vincenzo Caruana as knyaz Stepan Oblonsky – Stiva, and Maria Yordanova as countess Lidiya Ivanovna.

During the four performances we will also see Boryana Petrova as duchess Ekaterina Shcherbatskaya – Kitty; Kristina Chochanova, Pamela Pandova, Simeon Atanasov, Polina Ivanova, Ami Inoue, Francesco Congiusti and Sofia Opera lead dancers and corps de ballet.

Also starring: Stoimen Peev (violin) and the voices of Violeta Radomirska (on the 6th and 9th of March) and Tsvetana Bandalovska (on the 7th and 8th of March), with Noah Giofkos and Matei Stefanov in the role of the young Seryozha Karenin.
