Only seventeen years old, Alexandrina Mihaylova auditioned at Raina Kabaivanska to participate in her International masterclass at the New Bulgarian University. In the following five years, the young singer worked together with Kabaivanska in her masterclasses at NBU and at the “Vekki-Tonelli” Music institute in Modena.
In 2021, in a contest with 430 participants from all over the world, the Bulgarian soprano secured a place in the Academy contest for young opera singers held by “La Scala” in Milano and specialized there for two years while participating in different production of the famous opera theater. She has won awards from the “Otto Edelman”, “Gena Dimitrova”, “Premio Eta and Paolo Limiti” contests etc.
Alexandrina Mihaylova debuted on the opera stage in 2021 at the Sofia Opera as Liu in “Turandot” by Puccini; a year later, she performed at “La Scala” in the main role in the opera “The Little Prince” by Pierangelo Valtinoni.
The young singer participates in many concerts as well among which a concert performance of “La Boheme” in 2019 at the Verona Philharmonic theater, a Thomas Hampson concert in Sofia, the “Serata Belcanto” concerts with artists from the Raina Kabaivanska school at the “Santa Cecilia” Academy in Rome and at the “Opéra Bastille” in Paris, in 2023.
In 2019, Alexandrina performed for the first time as Musetta in “La Boheme” by Puccini at the opera theater in Verona; viewers will be able to see her in this same role on the 23rd of January. Her partners on stage will be Arturo Esposito as Rudolf, Silvia Teneva as Mimi, Jun Won Huang as Marcel, Alexandrina Mihaylova as Musetta, Mihail Motaylenko as Shonar and Nikolay Voinov as Colin.

The production is handled by theatrical director Boiko Bogdanov and was reconstructed by Vera Petrova. With the participation of the vocal-theatrical formation “Talasamche” with director Dimitar Kostantsaliev; Sofia Opera choir conductor: Violeta Dimitrova.
In the following two performances, singers from the opera studio of Opera Tegu, South Korea, will perform: Sung Yup Han as Rudolf, Jun Mo Park as Colin, Ma Fei as Mimi and Ye Sol Park as Musetta. The participation of these young “opera ambassadors” from the faraway country of South Korea solidifies the strong partnership between the Sofia Opera and the opera theater in Tegu.
