The great spectator interest and the desire of Sofia Opera and Ballet to pay its respect to the most keen admirers of the genius of Giuseppe Verdi are the reason the subscription cycle “Viva Verdi” – 2014 to be continued, with special discount of 20% of the regular price. The theatre offers four of most loved of the composer’s operas – “Don Carlos” and “La Traviata”, “Aida” and “Un balo in maschera“.
The magnificent production of “Don Carlos”, after a quarter of a century on Sofia stage, will be performed again on 1 March at 19.00 h and on 31 May at 19.00 h. On 31 May in the role of Filippo II guest performer will be the well-known Italian bass Carlo Colombara.
“La Traviata”, which evoked the admirations of the audience and the critique, continues to attract music lovers, as well as the not so keen fans of the art of opera. The spectacle on 16 March at 19.00 h will be with the special participation of the world-known Bulgarian baritone Vladimir Stoyanov in the role of Giorgio Germont. The next spectacle of this favourite title will be on 23 April.
“Aida” will be presented on 7 February at 19.00 h, on 8 February at 11.00 h and at 19.00 h, on 9 February at 16.00 h and on 11 February at 19.00 h, as well as on 9 May at 19.00 h, on 10 May at 11.00 h and at 19.00 h and on 11 May at 16.00 h. In the spectacle on 8 February at 11.00 guest-performers will be Kamen Chanev in the role of Radamès and Vladimir Petrov – in the role of Amonasro. In the spectacle at 19.00 h of the same day as Radamès we will see the Italian tenor Renzo Zulian. On 11 February at 19.00 h in “Aida” the spectators will have the chance to see the Italian Carlo Colombara as Ramfis.
“Un balo in maschera“, one of most liked titles of Verdi’s repertoire, will be performed again in June.
