After her successful career in the Italian repertoire, Maria Guleghina with fervour is adding German operas in her vast repertoire. Some of her future debuts include operas by Richard Wagner.
Maria Guleghina is considered for one of the world’s leading dramatic sopranos, the only one to have performed title roles in 16 new productions at Teatro La scala, among which “Manon Lescaut”, “Tosca”, “Un ballo in maschera”, “Macbeth” and others.
Guleghina has performed over 165 times title roles at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in “Aida”, “Turandot”, “Tosca”, “Norma”, “Macbeth”, “Nabucco”, “Andrea Chénier”, “Pique Dame”, “Cavalleria rusticana” and others.
Proclaimed by the critique for “Queen of the Opera”, she often presents herself at the most prestigious opera theatres all over the world, like Vienna State Opera, Mariinsky Theatre, Bavarian State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Covent Garden, L’Opéra Bastille, Teatro Colón, Bolshoi Theatre and others.
Called “the Russian soprano with Verdi in the veins”, she is winner of many prizes and distinctions, among which Premio Puccini 2009, Giovanni Zanatello Prize, Maria Zamboni gold medal from the festival in Osaka, 2001 Bellini Prize, Arte e Operosita nel mondo prize from Milan, etc.
For her social engagement she was awarded with the Orden of Holy Olga, the highest distinction of the Russian Orthodox Church. Guleghina is an honorary board member to the International Paralympic Committee and is a Global Goodwill Ambassador to UNICEF.
Her future plans include a new production of “I vespri siciliani” at the Mariinsky Theatre, “Aida” in Amsterdam as part of the Stadium Tour with Placido Domingo, as well as recitals all over the world, including Carnegie Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, Great hall of Moscow Conservatory and 15 other places.
