The soprano is the newest honorary member of Sofia Opera and Ballet
“With this theatre is connected my whole life, including the unconscious one, because I ate in the Opera’s canteen, while my mother Valery Popova was rehearsing”, declared the famous soprano Аlexandrina Pendatchanska on the occasion of her forthcoming concert at Sofia Opera and Ballet on 21 December. With the concert she will mark 25 years of her debut on the stage of our first opera theatre.
Аlexandrina Pendatchanska told, that she had performed her first central roles namely at Sofia Opera and Ballet and specified Pamina from “Die Zauberflöte” by Mozart and Violetta from “La Traviata” by Verdi. “I hope to overcome the excitement and the overexpectations of the fact that I shall stand again on this stage”, added she and clarified, that with his insistence the director acad. Plamen Kartaloff had “seduced” her to come back for this concert.
Maestro Kartaloff gave an expression to his joy that in the eve of the bright Christian holiday Christmas the audience will have the chance to hear again Аlexandrina Pendatchanska in the theatre from which started her world career. He granted the soprano the title honorary member of Sofia Opera and Ballet. The performer didn’t hide her excitement from that news and said that she didn’t expect such recognition.
The concert’s conductor Damian Iorio shared that he was content with his work with the orchestra of the opera and he was glad that at his first visit in Sofia he will conduct a concert of Аlexandrina Pendatchanska. For him in the art of the opera both the conductor and the director serve the composer. Pendatchanska and Iorio know themselves, but until now they haven’t worked together. After the concert on 21 December, the singer will please her admirers with autographs.
