Irina Iordachescu is a Romanian soprano which triumphs on the European stages. On 4 January 2014 at 19.00 h she will perform the role of Violetta in Verdi’s masterpiece “La Traviata". Conductor Erich Wächter, director Plamen Kartaloff.
Irina Iordachescu is born on 9 March 1977 in Bucharest in the family of musicians – her father Dan Iordachescu is professor at the Music Academy in Bucharest and baritone with impressive singer career. In 2000 Irina Iordachescu graduated Music Academy in Bucharest. In 2001 she was invited to take part in concerts with the orchestra and chorus of La Scala di Milano with conductor Ricardo Muti. Since 1997, she has been winning prizes at national and international competitions, as Viotti, Maria Callas, Vincenzo Bellini and others. In the singer’s repertoire there are already 15 central soprano parts from operas by Chimarosa, Mozart, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Lehár, Puccini, Leoncavallo and others.
Since 2009, the young Romanian singer has been actively collaborating with the Bulgarian opera theatres – she has presented herself with success on the stages in Plovdiv, Ruse and Sofia in the roles of Gilda "Rigoletto" by Verdi, with the solo part from Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Nedda from "Pagliacci" by Leoncavallo, Liu from "Turandot" by Puccini.
On 4 January the Sofia citizens and guests will have the pleasure to hear the young talent from our Northern neighbour country, this time in the role of Violetta from "La Traviata" by Verdi.
Partner of Irina Iordachescu in "La Traviata" on 4 January 2014 will be Ivan Momirov in the role of Alfredo.
In the role of Germont on the Sofia stage will present himself the baritone Vladimir Petrov – soloist of the State Opera in Minsk.
