SOLOISTS OF THE MARIINSKY THEATRE WILL BE GUEST-PERFORMERS WITH THE BIS-QUIT ORCHESTRA

 

The concert on 9 June is in the frames of the Days of Russia in Bulgaria



Karina Chepurnova (lyric soprano)

In 2005 she graduated from the Rostov Rakhmaninov State Conservatory with major Classical Singing, in the class of Prof. М.N. Khudoverdova.

From 2003 to 2005, she was a soloist of the Rostov State Music Theatre.

Since 2005, she has been a soloist of the Academy of Young Opera Singers with the Mariinsky Theatre and the St. Petersburg Theatre of Music Comedy.

She is prize-winner at the International competitions: “Elena Obraztsova” (2006), “N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov” (2006), International competition “Operetta-Land” (2008).

Yevgeny Akimov (tenor)

Honoured Artist of Russia

He graduated from the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. Since 1996, he has been in the company of the Mariinsky Theatre. He has taken part in joint theatre productions with the San Francisco Opera and La Scala, as well as in the productions of the Metropolitan Opera (New York), the Covent Garden Royal Opera House (London), L’Opéra de Paris, Teatro Reggio (Torino) and the National Theatre of China (Peking). He is prize-winner at International and All-Russian vocal competitions.

Yekaterina Sergeyeva (mezzo-soprano)

 
In 1998, she enrolled the Music School with the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory. From 2001 to 2005, she studied in a vocal class at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory.
She is prize-winner at the International Lisitsian Competition in 2005; prize-winner at the All-Russian Z. Dolukhanova competition in 2008; diploma-recipient at the International Rimsky-Korsakov Competition (prize for best performance of a contemporary work) in 2006.

She has taken part in master classes in Italy.

She has taken lessons from masters of the belcanto like Mirella Freni and Elena Obraztsova.

Pavel Shmulevich (Bass)

• Prize-winner at the VII International N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Young Opera Singers’ Competition (St. Petersburg, 2006)
• Prize-winner at the VI International Elena Obraztsova Competition (St Petersburg, 2007)
• Diploma-recipient at the V International Rimsky-Korsakov for Young Opera Singers’ Competition (St Petersburg, 2002) 
• Diploma-recipient at the I International Lisitsian Competition (Vladikavkaz, 2003)

Pavel Shmulevich was born in St. Petersburg. He graduated from the vocal faculty of the St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (class of Prof. G. Khanedanian). He has been soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers since 2000. He made his Mariinsky Theatre debut in 2001 as Antonio in the opera “Il viaggio a Reims”. He joined the Mariinsky Opera in 2008.

Chamber Orchestra “Bis-Quit”

The Chamber Orchestra “Bis-Quit” is a representative of the new Russian culture.

This is a unique experiment of six virtuosos of music humour and sparkling improvisation. Each one of their performances is a conquering story, a music spectacle. Through sounds they speak about life, love, happiness and sadness, about everything which moves the people in the world. They have created their own style of mixing of genres, using the ancient Russian folk instruments and accordion, saxophone and percussions.

Every time when they appear on the stage, they make a new musical reading, by making the listener not only cast a new glance towards well-known works, but also towards the entire Russian music culture.

The Chamber Orchestra “Bis-Quit” is a cast, which thanks to its virtuoso mastery conquers the whole world and proves that for it there are no impossible things in music. The Chamber Orchestra “Bis-Quit” performs in their own arrangement works from the world popular classic and from the Russian folk music.

The virtuoso mastery, the endless positive energy and the exceptionality in the sounding of “Bis-Quit” always fascinate the audience, by constantly emphasizing the status of St. Petersburg as cultural capital of Russia.
