At the age of 91 died the great Bulgarian ballerina Penka Encheva.

The star of many years of the Sofia Opera and Ballet, dedicated pedagogue, one of the artistic directors of “Arabesk”, guest-performing with exceptional success on the world stages, the ballerina was student of Anastas Petrov.

She was defined by the Russian choreographer Nicolai Kholfin as a ballerina, who excels on the stage with her artistic abilities and exceptional technique.

In Encheva’s career were succeeding each other character after character in many classical solo parts. Plastic, with notable technical mastery, Encheva interpreted her roles with passion and splendour. She transferred to the young generations of ballet dancers her high professionalism and the devotion, without which one cannot progress.
