Our first opera theatre impressed the participants in the biggest tourism exchange
The successive participation of the Sofia Opera and Ballet in ITB – Berlin, the biggest tourism exchange in the world, this year also evoked the approval and the admiration of participants and guests of the closed these days event in the fairground of the German capital. On an area of 160 000 m2 more than 10 000 exhibitors from 187 countries from the five continents presented possibilities for varied tourism in front of about 200 000 visitors. The turnover of the event was evaluated at about 7 milliards Euro.
Thanks to our first opera theatre and its initiatives from the last years Bulgaria is more and more confidently staying on the map of the modern destinations for the gaining more and more popularity in our days opera tourism. A fact, which with satisfaction marked the Minister of Tourism Stela Baltova. Between a series of business meetings at the exchange in Berlin she took the time for a conversation with the representatives of the Sofia Opera and Ballet at the stand of the tour operator – partner of the theatre during the exhibition “Tandem Travel“. Minister Baltova shared her admiration for the quality and variety of the presented by the Sofia Opera and Ballet production with the Manager of department “International Cooperation” Ana Bogdanova and with the Manager “Public Relations” Dimitar Sotirov. She discussed also the problems, which render difficult the development of the theatre’s activity in the long-term, among which in the first place is the system for financing in the field of culture. As representative of the tourism branch Minister Baltova is acquainted with the activity of the Sofia Opera and Ballet from its presentations at different exhibitions in Bulgaria, in the first place – „Go2Balkans“. A special interest she showed in the upcoming events like the second edition this summer of the festival “Opera of the Peaks”. Minister Stela Baltova with pleasure posed together with the representatives of the Sofia Opera and Ballet in front of the photo wallpaper of the Bulgarian stand with the image of the Belogradchik Rocks, where was realised the successive innovation idea of the theatre’s Director Plamen Kartaloff.
In the days of the exhibition, tour operators and representatives of the branch from all over the world with interest got acquainted with the prepared this summer and next year numerous initiatives of the Sofia Opera. From now, there is an expressed interest in the Summer Wagner Festival in 2018. In its frames will be performed the tetralogy “Der Ring des Nibelungen”, “Tristan und Isolde” and the premiere for this season title “Parsifal”. It will be performed for the first time in Bulgaria on 4, 6, 8 and 10 July at the Sofia Opera and Ballet. Conductor is Constantin Trinks. Stage Director is Plamen Kartaloff. Performers of the main roles in Wagner’s masterpiece are Kostadin Andreev, Martin Iliev, Atanas Mladenov, Dimitar Stanchev, Petar Buchkov, Angel Hristov, Nikolay Petrov, Biser Georgiev, Veselin Mihaylov, Gergana Rusekova, Radostina Nikolaeva.
