We wish you a wealthy, peaceful and prosperous 2017!

In the first month of the new year, the Sofia Opera and Ballet offers you a bouquet of favourite titles from the opera and ballet repertoire. We start with both spectacles of the classical ballet “The Nutcracker” by P.I. Tchaikovsky: on 6 and 7.01 at 19.00 h.

On 7.01 at 11.00 h, for the last time during the season, we shall meet you with the Christmas masterpiece by Gian Carlo Menotti “Amahl and the Night Visitors”.

Only on 13 and 14.01 at 19.00 h and on 15.01, at 16.00 h, we shall present you the Hugo de Ana’s production of Vincenzo Bellini’s opera “Norma”. You will have the possibility to see three performers of the leading role in these spectacles: Gabriela Georgieva, Tsvetana Bandalovska and the Italian soprano Fiorenza Cedolins. As Adalgisa the audience will hear the mezzo-soprano from Italy Diletta Scandiuzzi. Kostadin Andreev will make his debut in the role of Pollione.

In the pearl from Tchaikovsky’s ballet repertoire “Sleeping Beauty” on 20 and 21.01 at 19.00 h as Prince Désiré guest-performer will be the twice laureate of the Varna International Ballet Competition, the Canadian with Chinese origin Yue Shi. In the roles of The Lilac Fairy and The Carabosse Fairy for the first time will dance Venera Hristova and Darina Bedeva. 

On 22.01 at 16.00 h will sound Georges Bizet’s opera “Les pêcheurs des perles”.

The French repertoire is covered in one more title in January – “Samson et Dalila” by Camille Saint-Saëns with the guest-performing Nadia Krasteva (Dalila) and Daniel Magdal (Samson). The spectacles will be on 27 and 28.01 at 19.00 h and on 29.01 – 16.00 h.
