Marius Brenciu is a graduate of the Music Academy in Bucharest. Soon afterwards he made his debut as Don Ottavio in “Don Giovanni” from W.A. Mozart (1997). Still as student he had successful participations in international competitions, in many of which he won his first prizes – “Julien Gaillard”, with jury president Hosé Carreras, “George Enescu” with president Ileana Cotrubas. At the competition “Queen Elisabeth” in Brussels (2000) he won Second prise and the Special prize “For the Opera”, the next year at the Auditorium in New York City he won again the First prize and two special prizes. The same year he ended his participation in competitions in Cardiff by winning the honour “Singer of the World”. The interesting is, that one prize at the same competition had Karita Mattila, Bryn Terfel, Dmitri Chworostowski, but Brenciu won both prizes – “Song” and “Singer of the World”.

Step by step, Marius Brenciu added in his repertoire the roles of Rodolfo (“La Bohème”), in Hamburg and Tel Aviv, Alfredo (“La Traviata”) in Berlin, Rome and Brussels, count Almaviva (“Il barbiere di Siviglia”) in Lyon and Lisbon, Adorno (“Simone Boccanegra”) in Hamburg, Macduff (“Macbeth”) in Amsterdam and at the Edinburgh Festival.

In 2008, he had an exceptional susses at the stage of Metropolitan Opera with his participation in the opera “La rondine” by Puccini, and later also in Paris and Toulouse with the same opera.

Marius Brenciu has an impressive collaboration with the most famous names at the conductor’s stand – Claudio Abbado, Seiji Ozawa, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev, Simone Young, Kent Nagano, Marco Armiliato and many others.

To be remembered are his participations in spectacles as “L’elisir d’amore”, “Lucia di Lammermoor”, “Idomeneus” and in “Eugene Onegin”.
