Biography
Zlata Toshevska is one of the leading sopranos of the younger generation of singers, she has a “tremendous rich, soaring, warm spinto voice that harkens back to the Golden-Age of singing, with exquisite color and nuanced musicality, a natural stage presence and undeniable passion for singing.” Ms. Toshevska also holds a passion and great understanding for the history of opera art form and she eagerly incorporates her knowledge in her performing in the terms of building a believable character. She is a soloist at the National Opera and Ballet in Skopje where she performs regularly, with her repertoire including the leading soprano roles of Donna Elvira in “Don Giovanni”, Micaela in “Carmen, and Liu in “Turandot”. She also has performed as: Berta in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”, Mercedes – “Carmen”, Erste Dame – “Di Zauberflöte”, Aninna – “La Traviata”, Giovanna – “Rigoletto”, Kate Pinkerton – “Madama Butterfly”, Yente and Fruma Sarah in the musical “Fiddler on the roof” and the leading role of Lucy in “Telephone”. She has attended more than 13 singing master classes and opera work-shops in: North Macedonia, Italy, USA, Austria, Montenegro, Bulgaria and Kosovo. In July 2019 she was granted with the “Emerging Artist” scholarship by the “Premiere Opera Vocal Arts Institute”, to participate at their intensive course of 4 weeks in Trani, Italy, where she worked with world renowned voice teachers and conductors. Ms. Toshevska holds a Master’s degree from the “Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts” in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and completed her undergraduate work with honors at the “Faculty of Music” – University of “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje, North Macedonia. Apart from the opera stage, she regularly performs on the concert stage. She performs at eminent gala opera concerts and major festivals where she collaborates with well-known conductors in North Macedonia. She’s held recitals and concerts as well in Bulgaria, Turkey and USA. She is a member of the Premiere Artist Management agency based in New York.
