Biography
Svetoslav Lazarov was born into a family of musicians. He graduated with a master's degree in piano at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in the master classes of prof. Atanas Kurtev and prof. Krasimir Gatev.
He took partin piano and organ master classes in Germany (1997-98). Winner of the Svetoslav Obretenov Competition (1986), the Coast of Hope Competition (1999) and the Franz Schubert Competition (2000). His concert activity includes piano and organ recitals, appearances as soloist of chamber ensembles and orchestras in Bulgaria and abroad – Germany, Sweden, Finland, Serbia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Switzerland, etc.
He studied opera and symphonic conducting under Maestro Boris Hinchev, and then completed his master's degree in the major at New Bulgarian University in 2011 under Maestro Igor Bogdanov. He has worked as a conductor and pianist at the National Music Theatre “Stefan Makedonski” for 13 seasons. In 2014, together with his colleague Stefan Dyankov, he founded the Parashkev Hadjiev Symphony Orchestra, of which he is the Chief artistic director. He currently works as a conductor at Sofia Opera and Ballet.
