Petar Naydenov began his musical training at the age of 5 playing the violin. He then studied voice at the National Academy of Music in Sofia and improved under the guidance of the famous artists Ghena Dimitrova, Nicola Ghiuselev and Roberto Scandiuzzi.
The Bulgarian bass gave his operatic debuts as Don Giovanni at the Sofia National Opera, followed by Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte at the Theatre Maribor.
From 2006 till 2012 guest appearances took him to the Theater St. Gallen in the roles of Ruy Gomes da Silva in Ernani and Il Commendatore in Don Giovanni, to the Cairo Opera as Ramfis in Aida, to the Grand Théâtre de Tours as Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra, to the National Opera in Helsinki as Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, to the Landestheater Linz as Gremin in Eugen Onegin and Don Basilio, to Bucharest National Opera as Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, to Sofia National Opera as Zaccaria in Nabucco, Nilakantha in Lakme, Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Prince Galitsky in Prince Igor etc.
2009 Petar Naydenov was a q’finalist at the Placido Domingo’s “Operalia“ competition.
2012 till 2015 Petar Naydenov was a member of Volksoper Vienna with roles such as Ferrando in Il Trovatore, Timur in Turandot, Colline in La Bohème, Hagen in „Wagners RING an einem Abend" and Sparafucile in Rigoletto a.o.
In seasons 2016/2017/2018 the bass debuted as Conte di Walter in the np of Luisa Miller at Oper Graz and had big successes also as Gremin at Opera Malmö, Ramfis in Opera Cairo, Basilio in the np of Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Bergen International Festival and Theatre Aurora in Malta a.o.
He also gave his debuts at the Israeli Opera Tel Aviv as Mephistopheles in Gounod‘s Faust, conducted by Dan Ettinger and directed by Stefano Poda and at Teatro Verdi Trieste as Sarastro in The magic flute.
In 2018/19 he had concert appearances at Opera Bergen, Noway in F. Schubert Messe Es-dur and Requiem W.A. Mozart. In April 2019 sung Requiem Verdi by the opening event of Plovdiv Cultural Capital of Europe 2019 at Plovdiv Opera, Bulgaria. In April 2019 he appeared in Sofia National Opera in the titel role of Mozart’s Don Giovanni (cond.: Erich Wächte, dir. Hugo de Ana). The artist is an often-invited guest at his home stage in Sofia as Zaccaria in Nabucco, Philippe II in Don Carlo, Galitsky in Prince Igor and Nilakantha in Lakmé.
In season 2019/2020 Petar Naydenov sang Ramfis in Aida at Luxor Opera Festival in front of the Hatshepsut Tempel in Egypt (cond.: Oksana Lyniv), Gremin in The National Palas of Culture Sofia along with KS Krassimira Stoyanova (cond. Pavel Baleff), Timur in Turandot in Opera Bergen and returned to Sofia Opera as Don Giovanni.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemy his participations as Philippe II in Don Carlos at Sommeroper Selzach/Solothurn in July and August 2020 and 2021 (cond. Constantin Trinks) was cancelled as well as Don Giovanni in Sofia and Ramfis in Abu Dabi.
After the pandemy in 2022 and 2023 Petar Naydenov was invited at Teatro Comunale di Bologna in Iolanta, at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari in Manon Lescaut and Andrea Chenier, at Landestheter Linz as Ramfis in Aida and as Padre Guardiano in Forza del destino, at Opera Bergen as Ferrando in Trovatore, in Sofia National Opera as Nilakantha in Lakme etc.
In November 2023 he starred as Attila at Albanian National Opera Tirana (cond. Jacopo Sipari). In February 2024 he will be King Créon in a np of Medea by L. Cherubini at Sofia National Opera and in Aprill 2024 Colline in La Bohème at Opera Bergen, Norway.
