Maria Radoeva is born in Sofia, Bulgaria. After her debut as Zerlina in “Don Juan” by Mozart in Rousse (2006), she began a promising career, initially focusing on baroque repertoire, famous roles in Mozart’s works and on the most important oratorial repertoire titles (“Messiah” by Handel, “Stabat Mater” by Pergolesi, “Requiem” by Mozart, “Stabat Mater” and “Petite Messe Solennelle” by Rossini).
Her notable roles which define her artistic path and underline the variety of her repertoire and the flexibility of her vocal qualities are: Semiramis, Elena (“Lady of the Lake”) and Cinderella (Rossini), Fenena (“Nabucco”), Eboli (“Don Carlos”) and “Messa da Requiem” by Verdi along with concert masterpieces such as “Stabat Mater” and “Petite Messe Solennelle” by Rossini, “Wesendonck-Lieder” by Wagner, Maler’s Forth symphony and Richard Strauss’ “Four Last Songs”.
During the last few seasons, she focused on bigger roles in Verdi’s works adding those of Preciosilla (“La Forza del destino”, 2023) and Amneris (“Aida”) with which she will debut at the Antique theater in Plovdiv, in 2024.
Her undying passion for classical music leads to an important collaboration with the “Concerto antico” ensemble: pioneers in Bulgaria, in the area of performing using original instruments. Together with them, she interprets works by Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and others. She also works with Kristoff Russe on the “Monteverdi” Project (at Kidjana academy in Siena) where she performs in concerts together with the “Les Talens Lyriques” ensemble.
Maria Radoeva frequently performs at the Sofia Opera, with the Sofia Philharmonics and at the “Opera Open” festival in Plovdiv. She also makes appearances at the Tirol festival in Erl, the Philharmonic theater in Verona, Teatro Reggio in Torino, at the theaters in Modena, Luca and Pisa as well as at concerts in Europe and Japan, working together with conductors such as Gustav Kuhn, Jorma Panula, Frederic Chaslin, Stefan Anton Reck, Tito Ceccerini and Naiden Todorov.
Maria Radoeva has graduated in Sofia, with a masters’ degree at the National music academy after which she continued her education under Plamen Beikov, Darina Takova and Roberto Coviello. Her meeting Raina Kabaivanska greatly influenced her career: under Raina’s tutelage, Maria completed expert singing courses in Sofia and at the Kidjana Academy in Siena.
