Biography
Mario Dice was born in Foggia-Italy on 26/03/1978 He developed creative skills early on, encouraged by the maternal branch of his family, all gifted and self-taught artists.
His passion for art and craftsmanship became evident at a very young age, and Mario even created his first fashion designs before entering grade school. Driven by his passion, he devoured all the creative courses that came his way during his years at school, from ceramics to knitting and crochet, upholstery, glasswork and of course drawing and painting, all skills that would serve him well in his future role in fashion. At eleven years of age Mario was already convinced of his future occupation as a fashion designer, and continued to develop his artistic skills. At fourteen he gathered the courage to submit his designs to a selection of Italy’s top fashion houses: Valentino, Trussardi, Krizia, Versace, all of whom responded positively. Nicola Trussardi called him to Milan and was both shocked and impressed to discover that the masterly sketches he reviewed were those of a courageous youngster. Through Trussardi Mario met Calvin Klein product designer Enrico Migliaccio, who was struck by Mario’s talent and invited him to come and join the NY design team in the future. Mario interpreted the offer as an invitation, jumped at the chance, saved up some money working a summer job and flew off to NY in 1992 showing up at the Calvin Klein headquarters.
With the support of the Calvin Klein Mario was able to transcend the bureaucracy associated with foreign minor working in a US company, and went on to spend the next 5 years on the design team of Calvin Klein followed by DKNY.
Mario accumulated valuable product experience in the highly commercial and competitive US fashion world over these 6 years. When he finally returned to his native Italy he craved a more creative and sophisticated training, and headed for Rome where he spent 4 years at the Sorelle Fontana creative department, after which he headed the design team at the iconic Italian couture house Gattinoni.
In 2003 Mario was summoned by Dolce & Gabbana to head the design team for D&G, and transferred to Milan where he went on to collaborate with Versace Jeans Couture, Philosophy, Thierry Mugler, Trussardi, and Zuhair Murad among others.
Mario was appointed to the role of Creative Director for Krizia and more recently at the historic Couture Maison Capucci. He founded his namesake brand in 2007, with the Mario Dice collection showing on the runways of Milan Fashion Week since February 2016.
In 2022 at only 44 years old, Mario celebrates a remarkable career spanning 30 years, 11 of which at the head of his own Maison.
