Lorca Massine was born in New York, to Russian émigré parents. He studied dancing with Yves Brieux, Victor Gzovsky, Assaf Messerer and Anatole Wilzac. As a dancer, he has danced principal roles with leading choreographers of our time: Georges Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, his father Leonide Massine and Maurice Bejart.
Choreography:
He has choreographed over 50 ballets, among them: “4 last songs “ Printemps"” Ode”(new York city ballet Stravinsky festival) “Fantaisie serieuse” (American ballet Theater)Mario and the Magician" based on Thomas Mann’s novel, "Metamorphosis" adapted from the story by Franz Kafka, "Esoteric Satie”, “The Song of the Nightingale”, “Ondine”, “Sebastian”, “Streets” and “Zorba the Greek”, for which he wrote the libretto. “Zorba”, set to music by Mikis Theodorakis, the most highly attended contemporary full-length ballet, has been performed in 30 countries, recently celebrating its 5000th performance. He has staged his own and his father’s works for major international companies/theaters and festivals around the world:
