Biography

Italian scenographer, made his début in 1987 collaborating on the staging of Verdi’s Aida directed by Renzo Giacchieri in Luxor, Egypt. He was the set designer of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” for the Ljubljana Opera Festival, Slovenia. In 1997 he designed the set and the costumes for an important exhibition of lyrical operas in the National Museum of Otaru, Japan. He worked as set designer in numerous opera productions, including: Amelia by Ivan Zajc, Esmeralda, music by Cesare Pugni, ballet production by the Rijeka National Opera, Croatia, “La notte di un nevrastenico” by Nino Rota for the Greek Theatre in Lecce, Italy. In 2007 he worked as assistant scenographer of Angelo Sala, director of the Teatro alla Scala Academia in Milan, Italy. He collaborated on the staging of Verdi’s Aida for the Avenches Opera Festival, Switzerland, designed by Angelo Sala. Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana”, Puccini’s “Tosca”, Verdi’s “Masked Ball”, “Nabucco”, “Othello” and “La Traviata”, the “Corsaire” ballet are some of the major productions he is staging in Italy. Creates scenography for a new ballet production “Omaggio a Rota” (Tribute to Rota) at the “Fondazione Arena di Verona”, also designs the set of Bizet’s “Pearl Hunters”, as well as the scenery and costumes for Verdi’s “Aida” and Puccini’s “Turandot”, both for the Giuseppe Verdi Opera House in Salerno, Italy.
