Biography

With his rich, powerful voice and wide stylistic range, tenor Emmanuel Hasler has performed roles as eclectic as Ferrando, Albert Herring, Raoul de Gardefeu, Orphée, Adario, Zéro Janvier (Starmania), Idomeneo, Don José and Einsenstein.  In 2023, he created the role of Martigny in Miguela, an unpublished opera by Théodore Dubois, at the Festival Classica (Canada), then made his debut at the Opéra de Québec as Arturo in the French version of Lucia di Lamermoor, and at the Opéra du Royaume (Canada) as Nadir in Les Pêcheurs de perles.  In France, Emmanuel sang Abdallo in Nabucco at the Opéra National du Capitole de Toulouse and in 2025 he will return to the role of Don José in Carmen both in Europe and in Canada.

As a guest soloist, Emmanuel distinguishes himself in sacred music, with a repertoire including Rachmaninov's Vigiles Nocturnes, Handel's Messiah, Dvořák's Stabat Mater and Bach's St John Passion.

He has collaborated with numerous European and Canadian ensembles, including the Compagnie vocale et instrumentale La Tempête, l’Orchestre symphonique du Pays Basque, L'Harmonie des saisons, I Musici de Montréal, l’Orchestre classique de Montréal, l’Ensemble Caprice and the Choir of St. Andrew & St. Paul Church.

A finalist in the melody category at the Marmande competition (France), Emmanuel is passionate about this art form.  He performed Schubert’s cycle Der Winterreise in a project produced by Venezuelian-born choreographer and dancer José Navas.  He also took part in ATMA Classique's critically acclaimed recording of Jules Massenet's complete melodies.

Emmanuel Hasler began his training at the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles where he took his first steps as a soloist.  He then entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in Marcel Boone's class before continuing his studies at the Université de Montréal with Canadian tenor Richard Margison.

This is his first performance in Bulgaria.
