The month of July is dedicated to the great composer Richard Wagner. Therefore, from 8 to 30 July the Sofia Opera and Ballet will delight all admirers with a large-scale summer festival. Once again, we will be able to hear collected works from the German producer's crown. The surprises do not stop there. Maestro Plamen Kartaloff will present a new reading of the tetralogy “Der Ring des Nibelungen”.
“Wagner's music requires preparation from everyone. It is not an art that can be shown in squares. It is elitist music. The new reading of “Der Ring des Nibelungen” is a very ambitious task, but there was a need for it. In 2009 we had a mentor who gave us the knowledge that comes from great composers, conductors. We were fortunate to train all the singers that the Sofia audience would hear. We have Wagnerian singers in Bulgaria,” said the soprano Tsvetana Bandalovska on “Bulgaria in the Morning”.
The new reading of “Der Ring des Nibelungen” will show a maturity that has been building since 2009, Bandalovska noted.
“Der Ring des Nibelungen” is the opera of the future. Every time I prepare one of my Wagnerian roles – I find new things first. The new production costs us a lot of effort, it's seven operas, heavy titles. Acad. Kartaloff is a visionary and our Bulgarian culture should be proud to have such a man. Wagner is the composer from the world's treasury, which Acad. Kartaloff made it possible for the Bulgarian audience to hear him", commented the soprano before Bulgaria ON AIR.
The tetralogy is in very clear forms and gives the spectator a meditative state, Bandalovska revealed. “Everything is surreal. We don't have anything superfluous. We have something that is very real, it always impacts and changes,” the guest added.
